IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Call it a work hazard for TV journalists: fame-seeking passersby who interrupt live reports.

A Florida reporter covering Super Bowl preparations in New Orleans used her quick wits to embarrass a seemingly inebriated live-shot crasher, and asked the woman if she had a sexually transmitted disease.

Jessica Sanchez, a reporter for the CBS affiliate station WKMG-TV in Orlando, was on-air describing the lingering number of "zombies" roaming the streets.

"What is left here is people walking around with the glazed look in their eyes and just stumbling," Sanchez said just as an apparently drunk woman videobombed her report.

The woman was holding a plastic cup filled with liquid when she stumbled into the camera's view and yelled, "Hey, local news! I'm from California. 49ers!"

Although the woman appeared to be a football fan and Sanchez was in town to cover the biggest football game of the year, the reporter flipped the script on the woman.

Sanchez explained she was actually covering a story about the STD rate on Bourbon Street and asked disruptive woman how long she has had an STD.

The woman quickly sobered up, and with wide-eyes stated, "No, I don't have an STD. That's so disrespectful."

Sanchez innocently apologized for the mix-up, and all disrespect was quickly forgiven when the woman walked away, leaving some simple advice to avoid STDs: "Condoms."

Sanchez continued her live-shot and explained, "I've been taking care of that [drunkards] in my own little way."

Her confrontation has since gone viral and garnered over 104,000 views on YouTube.

"One of the challenges of live television is that the unexpected can and does happen," said Skip Valet, vice president and general manager of WKMG-TV, in a statement to The News. "We care continually addressing how to best balance our reporting when confronted with these types of interruptions."

The San Francisco 49ers will face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Feb. 3 in Super Bowl XLVII.
