A’ja Wilson has achieved another extraordinary milestone by breaking the WNBA single-season scoring record, further solidifying her place within the league’s pantheon of legends. On Wednesday (Sept. 11), Wilson set the new mark of 956 points in a season during a stellar performance that saw her score 27 points in the Las Vegas Aces’ 86-75 victory over the Indiana Fever. The league’s single-season scoring record was previously held by Seattle Storm star Jewell Loyd, who scored 939 points during the 2023 WNBA season. Wilson’s game against the fever was marked by a series of impressive plays, but it was her pull-up jumper with just 26.4 seconds remaining in the first half that set the new high for single-season scoring. In a postgame interview following the victory, Wilson expressed her relief and joy, saying, “It feels great because now people will stop talking about it. Felt like it was just like lingering, lingering, lingering, so I’m glad that we got it done.
