In the wake of Beyoncé's much heralded performance Sunday night at the Grammys, she and her husband, Jay Z, continued their stranglehold on popular culture with an appearance on DJ Khaled's newest single, "Shining."
However, Jay Z's efforts in particular are gaining some attention for potentially targeting Drake, the rap prince of Canada.
"12 solo albums/ All platinum, n---a," Jay Z declares. "I know you ain't out here talking numbers, right?/ I know you ain't out here talking summers, right?/ I know you ain't walking around talking down saying boss s--- when you a runner, right?"
Almost instantly, Twitter users began taking apart the lyrics, many concluding that Jay Z was firing away at the former “Degrassi” TV star.
As BET reports, the line about summers is particularly Drake-oriented since he released a track called "Summer Sixteen" and even named a tour after the single.
Even more importantly, "Summer Sixteen" contained a far-from-vague shot at Jay Z and, worse, where he likes to go swimming.
"I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay," Drake rapped, "Now I got a house in LA, Now I got a bigger pool than Ye."
As Drake may soon discover, the last thing you mess with is a man's pool size.
