Jaden Smith is the latest star to get down with Netflix.
Smith has been cast to play a teen graffiti artist in Baz Luhrmann's new Netflix passion project "The Get Down," which is set in the bad ol' days of late '70s New York.
The 13-episode musical-drama is billed as a sweeping look at the broken and bankrupt city told through the lives and music of a group of budding young B-boys and graffiti writers in the streets of the South Bronx.
Smith has been cast to play Marcus "Dizzie" Kipling, "a psychedelically talented and enigmatic graffiti writer raised in the South Bronx," Deadline reports.
In a statement, Luhrmann said the 16-year-old son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith has already begun boning-up for the part, "even taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of 'Wild Style' fame, as well as steeping himself in the history and culture of the Bronx."
"We're all very happy with the casting of Jaden …The Kipling family cast is now complete."
"NYPD Blue" alum Jimmy Smits, "Paper Towns" actor Justice Smith and "Dope" star Shameik Moore are also set to appear on the show.
Smith's last outing as an actor was in the 2013 flop "After Earth," which also starred his dad.
"The Get Down" is slated to debut sometime next year.
