A Manhattan judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of hip hop mogul Damon Dash, warning that the only way he can stay out of jail is to pay his ex-wife $341,999. Immediately.
Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper signed the warrant and proclaimed the cure for it Wednesday when Dash failed to show up in court, where his ex, fashion designer Rachel Roy, appeared with matrimonial lawyer Donnell Suares.
Roy filed papers saying Dash — whom she divorced in 2009 — owed her child support, school tuition, camp fees and mortgage payments that she had to make on their former Manhattan homes to rescue them from a foreclosure action.
Roy, 41, now lives with their daughters, Tallulah, 8, and Ava, 15, in California. She got full custody two weeks ago after Dash, 43, didn’t show up in a California court.
The California judge allowed him to have supervised Sunday afternoon visits with the girls, but Roy got a three-year restraining order that forbids him from going near her.
In March, Dash attacked Roy on social media, complaining she was keeping him away from his daughters. Roy has said in court papers that she needed to do that because Dash gets high in their presence.
Last week, Dash sued Roy for $2.5 million in Manhattan Supreme Court, saying she had mismanaged Royale Etenia, the fashion company they started in 2009 before their divorce, according to a story first reported by Bossip.com.
In matrimonial court on Wednesday, in addition to the arrest warrant, Cooper ordered Dash to pay $25,000 toward Roy’s legal bills.
