DJ Vlad Apologizes To Black Professor Morgan Jerkins For Threatening Her Princeton Position

DJ Vlad has issued an apology for seemingly attempting to have a Princeton University professor fired from the institution amid a heated rap debate on social media the content creator wrote a post on X, formerly Twitter, expressing his regret over including Princeton University’s social media account in a post responding to professor and fellow X user Morgan Jenkins. “After considerable reflection, I would like to apologize to @MorganJerkins for tagging her job in my replies during our Twitter exchange last weekend,” Vlad wrote His post came amid backlash for his seeming mishandling of the exchange, which stemmed from Jenkins’ assertion that his racial background nullifies his opinion on the rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. This past weekend, the Vlad TV founder offered his opinion on Kendrick Lamar’s new single “Not Like Us,” a diss record aimed at rap star Drake that has quickly become one of the biggest hits of the Compton native’s career. However, according to Vlad, the subpar engineering of the track diminishes its overall quality, a take he shared with his X follower. “Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us‘ needed a better mix,” the Bay Area rep wrote. “It takes away from the song.” In response, Jenkins quoted Vlad’s post, declaring that the discussion regarding Lamar’s new release is “a BLACK FOLK AFFAIR,” thus making his critique moot. Taking issue with Jenkins’ response, Vlad questioned whether that belief extends to her interactions with her pupils, some of which are presumably white. “Wait, so a professor at @Princeton is telling me that a white person shouldn’t be allowed to voice their opinion about Hip-Hop,” the content creator asked? “Is that how you interact with your students?” Upon Jenkins’ attempt to contextualize her prior statement, Vlad rejected her clarification, announcing that he would be contacting Princeton University to make the school aware of he and the professor’s exchange. “Don’t try to change your words now. I’ll be reaching out to @princeton about this on Monday,” he added.
