A new condom may be the answer for those who complain the latex prophylactics get them down.
Created by a British biotech company, the CSD500, or "Viagra condom," is coated on the inside with a gel that purports to increase blood flow and offers the user a longer lasting erection, reports AFP Relaxnews.
Durex is expected to release the new high-octane condoms in Europe by the end of the year. Depending on how the launch and subsequent sales go, the condoms could be rolled out in the U.S. in 2012.
Safe-sex advocates are hoping this new condom will appeal to men who struggle with maintaining erections while using condoms and have dispensed with them altogether, putting them at a higher risk for STDs.
When used properly and consistently, condoms are 98% effective in preventing pregnancy and very effective in preventing HIV infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
