WTF! BARBER WAS SACRIFICING ANIMALS IN THE BACK OF THE SHOP!

A Massachusetts barber was using his shop for more than just snipping sideburns - he was sacrificing animals there, city officials said.

City officials shuttered William Camacho's barbershop in New Bedford, Mass., after animal control officers hauled chickens, pigeons and four roosters - one already dead - from his shop, WJAR television reported.

Building inspectors found the animals during a routine inspection, the officials said.

Camacho told the station he practices Palo Mayobe, an Afro-Caribbean religion, and sometimes sacrifices animals during religious ceremonies in rural settings.

But he swore his shop was only for cutting coifs. He was in the process of moving the animals when he got busted, he said.

"Well it's very insulting to me," he told the station.

"Where I come from, its very normal. And this town, it's ignorant for them because they don't know what type of religion it is," he added.

New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang said the stylist was violating a city policy that bars keeping animals inside a business.

"His barber shop isn't closed because of his religion," Lang told WJAR. "It's closed because of health violations, and he needs to get them straightened out in a hurry."

Camacho said the shutdown is costing him nearly $700 a day while the city investigates the matter.

The alleged butcher barber could also face animal cruelty charges because of the dead rooster.
