Taylor Swift stole the show at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night, beating out the late King of Pop Michael Jackson for the Artist of the Year crown.
The country cutie was visibly stunned after the all-important final envelope was opened and her victory was announced by "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest.
"I just want to say that music has never been ultimately about competition," said the humble 19-year-old, who walked away with a total of five trophies Sunday night.
"To even be mentioned in the same category with Michael Jackson, who we all love and will miss forever, is an unimaginable honor."
Swift thanked the Jackson family members for their support, giving a special mention to the youngest of the clan, Janet.
"To the fans, you've given me so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving," she said on a live feed from London, where she is on tour.
The star-studded event was all about big names, big performances not to mention controversy.
Ex-"Idol" star Adam Lambert closed the show with an S&M-themed number in which he thrust a male dancer's face into his torso.
Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez took to the stage early on, introducing Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, who performed their hit "New York State of Mind."
Some in the audience booed, possibly as a show of solidarity for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who were swept aside by the Bronx Bombers in the playoffs.
"It's been a great year for New York - we took the World Series," said a smiling A-Rod, his right hand tucked in the pocket of his jeans.
Whitney Houston, decked out in a stunning long white dress, belted out her song "I Didn't Know My Own Strength," and "Umbrella" siren Rhianna sang in a clinging white bodysuit and shoulder pads that emitted red laser lights.
J.Lo emerged in full boxing attire to sing her new single "Louboutins," but took a tumble during her energetic routine and fell hard on her famous behind.
Michael Jackson received four awards, including Best Soul/R&B and Male Pop/Rock Artist, with his brother Jermaine accepting the honor on his brother's behalf.
"It's not just about winning the awards," he said, wearing a sparkly glove on his left hand in tribute to the "Thriller" star.
"The message that Michael had will live on forever ... he wanted everyone to do
