POLICE OFFICER SMASHES A GUY'S FACE THROUGH A WINDOW!

A San Francisco transit police officer shoved a rider into a window, shattering the glass and cutting both men - an incident captured on video by a train passenger and posted on YouTube.

The video taken Saturday night shows Michael Joseph Gibson standing in the aisle of a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train and gesturing wildly at other passengers before he is yanked out of the car by an unidentified officer. As the other passengers applaud, the BART officer then can be seen pushing Gibson toward a wall at the West Oakland station.

When the two slam into the glass, it shatters and rains down on both of them. The cop suffered a concussion, and both he and Gibson were treated at Oakland hospitals for cuts and were later released, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

"This is a use-of-force case that we will thoroughly investigate," BART Police Patrol Commander Daniel Hartwig said in a statement yesterday.

BART officials said the 37-year-old Gibson was yelling racial slurs at passengers when the officer responded to several complaints. Gibson was arrested on suspicion of battery on an officer and resisting arrest.

The suspect's father, Joseph Gibson, told CNN his son suffered from bipolar disorder and substance abuse.

"You saw the reaction from the patrons," BART police officers' union President Jesse Sekhon told the Chronicle. "They applauded the officer for doing his job."
