Video: Rotten Sperm Whale Explodes On Biologist

An unsuspecting scientist was left covered in stinky sperm whale guts after its dead carcass exploded in his face.

Bjarni Mikkelsen was trying to cut open the creature's 45-foot corpse in the Faroe Islands this week when it blew up.

Astonishing video shows him prodding the sea giant — but on piercing its skin, the gas trapped inside detonates.

Gallons of organs and innards are then spewed into the air.

The incredible moment was caught on camera by the Faroese Broadcasting Corp. It reported that the whale died after getting trapped in a narrow channel

Biologist Mikkelsen was drafted in after residents of the Danish islands, which are 200 miles north of Scotland, wanted to use the whale's skeleton in a museum.

That plan is still going ahead and work is now going on to strip the beast of its flesh.
