Video: Old Man Arrested For Trying To Snort Cocaine During Traffic Stop

A 73-year-old man who was pulled over for driving with his headlights off was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly snorting cocaine during a traffic stop, Seattle police said.

Dashcam footage of the incident shows Officer Nic Abts-Olsen checking the unidentified man's license and registration.

Due to the man's clean driving record, Abts-Olsen was about to let him go with a warning until he attempted to take the substance in front of the police officer, authorities said.

When Officer Abts-Olsen walked back to the man's Toyota, he looked inside the car and saw the driver "portioning out a scoop of cocaine from a small glass vial," the Seattle police department said in a statement.

"What is that? Are you kidding? You're about to snort coke on the side of the road?" Abts-Olsen can be heard asking the man.

The Seattle police department took this opportunity to poke fun of the incident in the video with a public service announcement, saying, "Please abstain from using cocaine, especially during a traffic stop."

The unidentified man got frightened, causing him to spill the white powder all over his hands and the car floor.

He told Abts-Olsen that it was "vitamins."

The man was taken to King County Jail, where he was charged with narcotics possession, according to police.
