Tracy Morgan In Talks To Play Redd Foxx In Richard Pryor Biopic

Tracy Morgan continues to enjoy a Redd-hot comeback.

The “30 Rock” star is in talks to play comedian Redd Foxx in the Richard Pryor biopic directed by Lee Daniels, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice!" said Morgan in a statement. "It will be an honor to portray an icon.”

Best known as the star of the ‘70s sitcom “Sanford and Son,” Foxx was an influential figure in comedy and served as a mentor to Pryor.

The pair also appeared together in the movie “Harlem Nights,” two years before the sitcom star passed away in 1991.

If Morgan signs on to play the comedian, he joins an All-Star cast that includes Mike Epps as Pryor, Oprah Winfrey portraying his grandmother and Kate Hudson as Pryor’s wife.

Eddie Murphy, who co-starred with Pryor in “Harlem Nights,” will play the late comedian’s father in the film, while Taraji P. Henson will portray his mother.

The biopic role is the latest high-profile gig for Morgan, 47, since he was severely injured in a car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014.

The star has launched a career comeback in recent months that included presenting at the Emmy Awards in September and hosting “Saturday Night Live” last month.

He also landed a role in the Ice Cube comedy “Fist Fight,” and recently announced plans to launch a stand-up comedy tour early next year.
