“30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan’s remarkable recovery from a horrific New Jersey Turnpike wreck continued Saturday with his return home after five intense weeks of medical care.
“Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program,” said a statement from his spokesman Lewis Kay.
“He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point.”
Morgan, 45, was nearly killed when his Mercedes-Benz limousine was rear-ended by a speeding Wal-Mart tractor-trailer with a drowsy driver June 7, authorities said.
The former “Saturday Night Live” funnyman was airlifted by helicopter to a New Jersey hospital, where he spent two weeks before he was transferred for a three-week stay at the rehab facility.
The Bronx-born comic was initially in critical condition with a broken leg, broken ribs and other injuries.
One of Morgan’s close friends, James (Uncle Jimmy Mack) McNair, was killed in the terrifying crash.
Morgan’s suit asserts that Roper, who has pleaded not guilty, fell asleep at the wheel before the lethal moment of impact.
Two Morgan pals injured in the crash — Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea — are also suing the retail giant for the horrific crash.
Wal-Mart issued a Saturday statement reiterating its full cooperation with the investigation.
“We know it will take some time to resolve all of the remaining issues as a result of the accident, but we’re committed to doing the right thing for all involved,” the company said.
