Toni Braxton is not starting 2019 off on a good note — not only has she broken up with Birdman but she allegedly owes nearly half a million dollars in back taxes.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the Internal Revenue Service filed the first lien against the singer on December 4. The lien states that Braxton owes a total of $340,252.99 in back taxes for 2017.
Days later, the State of California Franchise Tax Board hit her with a tax lien of their own over $116,154.64 for money owes.
The grand total of the liens comes to $456,407.63.
Both the IRS and the State of California warn Braxton to hurry up and pay or they will start the process of seizing her property.
Braxton should be no stranger to the warnings. As The Blast first reported, both the IRS and the State of California filed tax liens against her last year, claiming she owes a total of $780,808.29 in back taxes.
In addition to her tax woes, Toni Braxton has filed for bankruptcy twice in the past — once in 1996 and again in 2010 (listing over $10 million in debt). Braxton had her debt discharged in 2014, when a federal court judge wiped the majority of her debt clean.
Braxton claimed she had to file a second time due to health problems that lead to her having to cancel a series of Las Vegas concerts.
In 2017, Braxton finished a 17-show tour called “The Hits Tour” and is still starring on the We TV reality show “Braxton Family Values.”
