Toni Braxton Performs Wearing Heart Monitor Amid Lupus Battle

Singer Toni Braxton isn't missing a beat on tour despite her ongoing battle with lupus.

The R&B crooner performed with a heart monitor visibly strapped to her chest during a show in Georgia on Saturday — less than two weeks after she was hospitalized for the second time in several weeks due to the disease.

Doctors recommended Braxton, 49, wear the device at all times to identify pain in her chest, in addition to potential heart attacks or strokes, TMZ reports.

When she took the stage in Savannah, the monitor was in plain sight, particularly when she wore a revealing black jacket that was unzipped to expose her upper chest.

The "Un-break My Heart" songstress checked into an Atlanta hospital late last month and spent at least four days there after experiencing health concerns stemming from lupus, according to the celebrity gossip site.

She then transferred to a Los Angeles facility before hitting the road for her "The Hits" tour, but she was forced to postpone a concert in Cleveland in mid-October after she was hospitalized once again, this time in the Ohio city.

"Lupus needs to be constantly monitored and this minor setback should not affect the rest of her tour," Braxton's team announced in a statement following the second hospitalization.

Braxton's beau, hip-hop star Birdman, has been by her side throughout her recent spell of health concerns. He reportedly rushed to support her during the first trip to the hospital and, after performing at her concert in Kansas City earlier this month, was in attendance at Saturday's show as well.

Braxton was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease in which the body attacks its own immune system, in 2010.

She's not the only singer whose recent performances have been impacted by lupus in recent months. Pop star Selena Gomez recently took a career hiatus to deal with symptoms from the illness, putting an end to her sprawling "Revival" world tour.
