The latest round of the battle of the superheroes goes to Captain America.
Marvel Studios announced that the latest trailer for "The Avengers", released on iTunes Wednesday, notched a record 13.7 million views over 24 hours — besting "The Dark Knight Rises'" previous record of 12.5 million.
“Rises,” the final installment of director Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy, had set the previous iTunes record in December, beating an earlier trailer for "The Avengers," which had set the bar at 10 million.
In this week's trailer for “The Avengers,” fans were treated to two minutes and 21 seconds of fight sequences where the Marvel's all-star team of superheroes — Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) — battle evil forces and each other.
There will be plenty of opportunity for "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" to set more records — the former hits theaters on May 4, the latter on July 20.
