Akon’s participation in Australia’s upcoming Summerbeatz tour has hit a bit of a snag. The “Smack That” singer has been banned from performing in Melbourne. Concert organizer Dwayne Cross says Akon will be forced to miss the November 25th show at the Rod Laver Arena because he jumped in the crowd to break up a fight during a 2009 concert in Melbourne. Cross adds, quote, “It’s with great regret that we announce that Akon will not be performing in Melbourne on the Summerbeatz 2010 Tour. This is due to restrictions put on us by the Melbourne venue Rod Laver Arena.” Fortunately for Akon, he will be allowed to take the stage when the tour pulls in to Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane. The Summerbeatz 2010 tour will run from November 19th to the 25th. Joining Akon on the trek are Soulja Boy, Ciara, Flo Rida, and Jay Sean.
THAT IS REALLY MESSED UP! I UNDERSTAND THE SECURITY CONCERNS BUT AKON DID NOTHING WRONG! AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE AUDIENCE MEMBERS FIGHTING. ALL AKON DID WAS JUMP INTO THE CROWD TO STOP THEM FROM FIGHTING! THEY SHOULD GIVE HIM KUDOS FOR THAT! NOT BAN HIM!
