Tay-K's 'The Race' Being Used As Evidence In Murder Sentencing

Tay-K's "The Race" vaulted him to stardom and onto the Billboard charts in 2017 with a viral hit based on his evading of police. After being found guilty of murder for his role in the death of Ethan Walker during a 2016 Texas home invasion last week (July 19), lyrics and the visual to "The Race" were shown to the jury as potential evidence against him, according to The FADER, who have been on site in the Dallas courtroom where sentencing proceedings for the rapper have been taking place.

Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, is awaiting sentencing and faces betwen 5 to 99 years in prison. The FADER’s Ben Dandridge-Lemco reported live from the courtroom on Monday (July 22) that the prosecution played the video for "The Race" and later distributed lyrics to the jury with their final witness taking the stand.

Prosecutors later introduced screenshots pulled from the visual, as well as the artwork to his Living Like Larry EP and other images he's used on social media in the past that find him brandishing a weapon. A ruling on his sentencing could arrive as quickly as Tuesday (July 23).

Tay-K is also facing a separate capital murder charge for allegedly fatally shooting Mark Saldivar at a Chick-fil-A in San Antonio on April 23, 2017.
