Megan Thee Stallion is currently in the process of trademarking her fiery catchphrase "Hot Girl Summer," Billboard has confirmed.
The saying has taken off across the country thanks to her diehard Hotties fanbase, which Meg defines as women -- and men -- "unapologetically" being themselves and "living their truth." She's even teased releasing a "Hot Girl Summer" anthem before the season's out and is running her own official "Hot Girl Summer" playlist on Spotify with more than 110,000 followers.
The trademark was filed July 10, the same day the Houston native publicly responded to one of her fans saying she was actively "in the process" of making it happen. As the "Hot Girl Summer" meme has taken off online, brands including Wendy's, Duolingo, Forever 21 and Maybelline have all used it in their marketing. The trademark will cover merchandise specifically for products such as hoodies, T-shirts and sportswear, if approved.
Back in March, Cardi B attempted to trademark her signature "Okurrr" saying, but the bid was ultimately denied by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in May. Cardi's try at locking up the lucrative phrase she's become synonymous with and even used in her Pepsi commercials was also for clothing purposes.
On another note .... Every trademark the Kardashians have filed has been approved.
