Suge Knight To Stay Locked Up For The Next Six Weeks

Rap mogul turned murder suspect Suge Knight will remain behind bars for the next six weeks as his attorneys prepare his defense.

The co-founder of Death Row Records was charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run after he struck two men in a Compton parking lot during a Jan. 29 fight.

On Monday, the West Coast rap impresario appeared in court for a brief hearing that was supposed to address if bail should be set for him.

A prosecutor and Knight's attorneys sought a delay to prepare for the hearing, which Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Barnes said might include evidence of a "very large stack of uncharged crimes."

She declined to elaborate.

Knight's attorney, David Kenner, said he plans to check the veracity of any new evidence submitted.

Prosecutors contend Knight purposely hit Terry Carter, 55, with his 3-ton truck in the parking lot of a Compton burger stand.

Knight's lawyer argues the rap mogul was trying to race away from a vicious attack. The fight happened after Knight, 49, got into a spat at a spot where a promotion for the film "Straight Outta Compton" was being shot. The film is about the rise of the rap group N.W.A.

During one of his first court hearings in the case, Knight appeared to have a panic attack and was rushed to a local hospital.

On Monday, he spent much of the court hearing with his head cocked to one side.
