Suge Knight pleaded not guilty to charges he threatened director F. Gary Gray’s life over the producer’s depiction of him in the film “Straight Outta Compton.”
Knight — who is currently in jail after pleading not guilty to a murder in 2015 — pleaded not guilty in court Thursday after he was indicted for allegedly threatening Gray by text, TMZ reported
“On or about August 8, 2014, Suge ... threatened to commit a crime which would result in death and great bodily injury to Felix Gary Gray,” according to the Grand Jury indictment, acquired by TMZ.
Outside the courtroom on Thursday, Knight’s lawyer Mathew Fletcher read the only texts he claims to have seen between the two men, including one that read: “You have family, I have family, God bless you,” according to the gossip site.
Knight was reportedly unhappy with the portrayal of him in the 2015 film “Straight Outta Compton,” a biopic about the hip hop group N.W.A.
Gray was reportedly photographed speaking with police officers after the alleged threat was made.
Knight —whose real name is Marion Hugh Knight — is currently awaiting a January trial related to the murder of Terry Carter, who he allegedly ran over in a parking lot of a burger stand in 2015.
