Comedian Steve Harvey now realizes his mockery of Asian men was no laughing matter.
The "Family Feud" host offered up a mea culpa to those he offended after chuckling his way through a controversial bit about whether white and African-American women find Asian men dateable.
"I offer my humblest apology for offending anyone, particularly those in the Asian community, last week," he shared Tuesday on Twitter. "It was not my intention and the humor was not meant with any malice or disrespect whatsoever."
Harvey, 60, received considerable backlash last week after unleashing his racially charged routine during an episode of the "Steve Harvey Show."
He began the segment by introducing the cover of a 2002 book, titled "How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men."
"Excuse me, do you like Asian men?" he asked in reaction to the title. "No, thank you."
He then doubled down on the questionable shtick by imagining a book called "How to Date a Black Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men."
"That's one page too!" Harvey said. "You like Asian men? I don't even like Chinese food. It don't stay with you no time ... I don't eat what I can't pronounce."
The jokes inspired major criticism from viewers online — as well as a letter from a group of Asian-American lawmakers in New York City demanding an apology.
"You and your producers managed to insult Asian men, white women, and black women with a single skit," the letter reads. "Your statements were racist, sexist, and completely inappropriate for a public figure on a show broadcast to millions."
This isn't the first time Harvey's had to make a public apology in the past 13 months. He also accidentally announced the wrong winner as the host of Miss Universe 2016 in December 2015, prompting an apology to both the pageant's rightful winner — and the woman he mistakenly crowned queen — in separate episodes of his talk show.
