Ciara Opens Up About Husband Russell Wilson Wanting To Remain Celibate

It was Russell Wilson's idea to wait until marriage before scoring in the bedroom — and Ciara was totally on board.

The "Body Party" singer, who's pregnant with her second child, opened up about her and Wilson's decision to remain celibate until after their wedding day telling Cosmopolitan South Africa that it was the Seattle Seahawks player who approached her with the idea.

"I have to give credit to my husband for sharing those views," she told the magazine for their February issue. "It's awesome how it all worked out. We women think with our hearts and with our minds. When we see a guy, we envision what he's like and whether this could be something special. Guys see us from an exterior point of view — that's something I learned along the way as a woman… You shouldn't feel like you have to give your body away to get someone to like you."

The 31-year-old singer went on to say that because she and Wilson waited to have sex, it helped strengthen their bond and their relationship.

"I really believe that when you focus on a friendship, you have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a relationship — and once you know you're really great friends and you're what we call 'equally yoked,' where you share the same values or the same outlook on life, it kind of sets the tone," Ciara explained. "Knowing that you'll always have the friendship and that you can always go back to it is very important, and very powerful."

In 2015, Ciara and her now-husband made headlines when Wilson revealed during a Q & A with Miles McPherson of The Rock Church in San Diego that God told him he needed "to lead" Ciara. According to the athlete, once he got God's message he approached Ciara about them abstaining from sex until their wedding day.

Now that Ciara and Wilson are husband and wife, the happy couple can have all the sex they want. And they aren't afraid to brag about it. Just one day after their July wedding, Ciara made a Snapchat video joking about her and Wilson's sex life.

"So, baby, you know what we're doing tonight," she teased. "And what we did last night, I want to do multiple times," Wilson responded.
