Filmmaking legend Spike Lee picked up some extra cash Saturday by holding a music-thumping stoop sale outside his Brooklyn studio.
The movieman pitched two tents in front of his Fort Greene production company - 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks - and sold racks of vintage T-shirts and other items promoting his pictures for what he billed as a one-day "popup store."
"This is the best Saturday. This is a community thing," said Bruce White, 35, of Hollis, Queens, who picked up $350 worth of clothes, books and baseball caps.
"People can come out and enjoy this great day," said White.
Lee declined to discuss the sale, which he announced on Twitter Friday, but some fans were disappointed by his cash-only policy.
"I came here thinking I could pull out my card and buy a bunch of stuff," said Melvin Baskin of Maryland, who planned to purchase a T-shirt but also walked off with a picture with Lee.
Security allowed people in the tent 10 at a time and all customers were given a free Michael Jackson CD and sticker with their purchase. There was also a DJ on hand spinning music from noon until 6.
"I was the first one here," declared Rashad Smith, 39, of Fort Greene who picked up a $50 sweatshirt featuring the Lee film "She's Gotta Have It."
Asked why he stuck around after shopping, Smith said, "It's a nice atmosphere."
