Sandra Bullock To Earn At Least $70 Million For Her Role In ‘Gravity’

If Sandra Bullock doesn’t win her second Oscar Sunday night, at least the movie she’s nominated for earned her a hefty paycheck.
The actress is set to earn at least $70 million from her role in “Gravity,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The stratospheric salary, which would be the 49-year-old star’s biggest paycheck to date, is due to a lucrative deal Bullock reportedly struck when signing on to star in the sci-fi blockbuster.
Several sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the Oscar winner’s deal earned her “$20 million upfront against 15 percent of first-dollar gross.” In layman’s terms, that means Bullock gets 15 percent of “the studio’s slice of the box-office pie.”

And with “Gravity” expected to soon cross the $750 million mark at the international box office, The Hollywood Reporter calculates that Bullock’s take will be more than $30 million.
And “The Blind Side” star’s earnings don’t end there. Bullock also gets “a percentage from home video, TV and ancillary revenue,” which The Hollywood Reporter estimates that will net the star an additional $20 million.

No doubt Bullock is pleased that she agreed to star in “Gravity,” especially since she almost missed out on the opportunity. The film’s director, Alfonso Cuarón, revealed earlier this month that Angelina Jolie had originally been approached for the role that ultimately went to Bullock.
