IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Rihanna has found a new place to hang her umbrella.

The chart-topping chanteuse is renting a penthouse at the fancy loft conversion at 129 Lafayette St. on the rapidly transforming border of Soho and Chinatown.

The four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath duplex on the 11th and 12th floors includes a wraparound 2,400-square-foot terrace with killer views of Soho and the World Trade Center.

The pad went on the market in April with a $14.6 million asking price — but a source told the News that Rihanna is renting instead for $39,000 a month after seeing the duplex during a visit to town for Fashion Week last month.

TOWN broker Dana Power declined to comment. And reps for the Barbadian beauty did not return a request for comment.

The full-service 27-unit building has a full-time doorman — who should be more than capable of keeping out the rude boys who have been stalking the star’s L.A. compound in recent months.

Rihanna is currently wrapping up her Diamonds World Tour, in support of last year’s quintuple-platinum album “Unapologetic.”

That could also be the title of her new home, which features high-end fixtures that would make anyone feel lost in paradise: a Viking range, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine cooler, Kohler fixtures and a full media room with a bar.

The master suite has a 156-square-foot walk-in closet and a bathroom with a six-foot tub in front of a huge window with views of the Empire State Building. It’s much nicer than the bathtub she wallowed in for the video, “Stay.”

The penthouse was originally sold for $6.1 million in 2005, a year after 129 Lafayette was converted into condos.

Rihanna’s new neighbors are happy for the singer to run this town.

“Welcome to the neighborhood, RiRi!" said Olivia Wolfe, who lives in the area and works at American Two Shot, a boutique on Grand and Crosby Sts.

The burgeoning neighborhood around 129 Lafayette is off the tourist-beaten cobblestone paths a few blocks to the west, which makes the area popular with celebs for its relative seclusion.

Mayor Bloomberg’s ex, Susan, used to live up the block at One Kenmare Square while Kelly Ripa used to live at the corner of Crosby and Spring Sts.

Fellow Grammy winner Alicia Keys bought Lenny Kravitz’ old Crosby St. place a few years ago, but she sold it six months ago, leaving Rihanna the top set of pipes in the neighborhood.
