Rihanna is adding a major new role on A&E's "Bates Motel" to the projects under her umbrella.
The "Work" singer has been tapped to play iconic character Marion Crane, the cable TV network announced Friday.
The 28-year-old personally announced the new gig in a video message delivered during a season five panel for the series at San Diego Comic-Con.
"Yes, hello Comic-Con, it's your girl RiRi, and let me tell you what a bad b---- is about to do. I am about to check into the Bates Motel very soon and guess what else? Guess who's playing Marion?" she said with obvious delight as she filmed herself in what looked like a hotel room.
The Barbadian singer is currently on tour for her "Anti" album with dates this weekend in France.
"Yes, so all you Comic-Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned," she said in the video.
The cable network hailed Rihanna as a great fit for the popular show, which depicts the lives of Norman Bates and his mother Norma prior to the events portrayed in the seminal 1960 Hitchcock film "Psycho."
Marion Crane, played by late actress Janet Leigh in the original flick, is the secretary who's stabbed to death in the movie's famous shower scene.
"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate," executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in a statement.
Actress Vera Farmiga is due to executive produce and also return in her Emmy-nominated role as Norma after her destined death in the final episodes of season four, the network said.
Rihanna proved her acting chops with her voice work in the 2015 animated film "Home" opposite Jim Parsons from "The Big Bang Theory."
