REVOLT‘s legal team has denied Damon Dash‘s claim of being appointed temporary chairman of the media company, calling it completely false and uncorroborated. Endi Piper, General Counsel for Offscript Worldwide, REVOLT’s parent company, responded to comment regarding Dash’s alleged misrepresentation of the facts. Piper, writing on behalf of REVOLT and its CEO, Detavio Samuels, described the information regarding Dash’s announcement in our initial report published “Damon Dash has not been appointed Chairman of REVOLT, either temporarily or permanently,” Piper told VIBE via email. “At no point has Mr. Dash held this title or position within the company.” In addition, REVOLT contends that a quote attributed to company CEO Detavio Samuels, celebrating a proposed partnership between Dash and REVOLT, was fake and not provided by Samuels. “The quote attributed to Detavio Samuels in any release [VIBE] received was fabricated and did not come from him,” Piper wrote on behalf of the executive, who Dash claims he had a mutual agreement with regarding an alleged REVOLT partnership. Piper says that Samuels and Dash have a “handshake agreement” regarding REVOLT’s potential distribution of Dash’s content series Bosses Take Losses and the “corresponding economics” surrounding it. “Finalizing that deal was always contingent on legal documentation,” Piper wrote, deeming Dash’s reveal of the news as premature. “No such documentation exists, and Mr. Dash was not authorized to announce it.” The lawyer also clarified that the trailer for Dame’s docuseries My Paid in Full contains the REVOLT logo and branding despite not having authorization to do so. In our initial report, which has since been removed for factual inaccuracies
