Quavo Says He Didn’t Diss Lil Peep On New Song

Quavo wants fans to know he meant no disrespect to the late rapper Lil Peep on his song “Big Bro.”

After days of speculation that the track, off the 27-year-old’s just-released solo album “Quavo Huncho,” poked fun at Lil Peep’s death, the Migos rapper took to Twitter to clear things up.

“Big Bro” became an object of contention soon after its release late Thursday night, thanks to the lyrics, “Think you poppin’ Xanax bars, but it’s Fentanyl / Think you’re living life like rock stars but you’re dead now.”

While Quavo didn’t explicitly identify who he was referring to, Lil Peep associates and fans thought the connection was clear, because the late rapper frequently referred to himself as a rock star and died of a Fentanyl and Xanax overdose while on tour in Arizona last November. He was just 21 at the time of his death.

Lil Peep’s friend, British rapper Bexey, demanded an explanation from Quavo in a video posted to Instagram on Friday.

“If the f—king song ain’t about him, the lyrics ain’t about him, then explain it,” he said. “Because that s—t’s disgusting. There’s a whole army of people waiting to shut your s—t down.”

But Quavo’s tweet seems to have answered any questions Bexey may have had. He responded soon after, writing, “ITS ALL LOVE, I JUMPED TO CONCLUSIONS CAUSE I’M HURT. THANK YOU FOR BEING REAL & EXPLAINING THIS S–T.. RESPECT.”
