Prince Joins Instagram With ‘Princestagram’ Account

Prince is finally ready to #partylikeits2015.

The Purple One has joined Instagram— another sign of the times that the once famously anti-Internet superstar is suddenly feeling all lovesexy about this whole Web thing.

The “Dirty Mind” singer made his first post on the verified account on Thursday. Since then, he has been posting content as ceaselessly as he used to drop albums. In nearly 100 posts, he has shared promo pics, concert snaps, fan art and a characteristically cryptic clip of a song playing on a computer (with his face as the background).

He’s even showing off his rare sense of humor with a series of memes — one of them honoring comedian Dave Chappelle’s infamous portrayal of Prince as a pancake-making, basketball-dominating nutcase.

Prince called the account, of course, “Princestagram” — which is spelled out, literally, in a slew of letter-by-letter posts.

The new account comes just a month after Prince put out his new album, “HITNRUN Phase One,” exclusively on Tidal, Jay Z’s struggling streaming service.

All pretty progressive stuff for the musical mastermind known for filing lawsuits to keep his music offline, and who five years ago declared that the Internet is “completely over.”
