Nicki Minaj Shares Stage With Beyonce At The Tidal X Concert In New York

Nicki Minaj and Beyonce stole the show at the Tidal X Concert on October 20. The awesome duo performed live their hit “Feeling Myself” single for the first time.

The “Anaconda” singer and Queen Bey were among the long list of performers for the Tidal X: 1020 charity gig held in Brooklyn, New York.

The event was put together to celebrate the online streaming service surpassing the one million subscriber mark, Belfast Telegraph reports. The night gave fans the ultimate concert experience as it was full of R&B, rap, reggae, and even a little country music.

The concert was intensified by HTC and had a goal to raise funds that would go to the New World Foundation, an organization that funds social movements. Concert organizers estimated the funds raised to be about $1 million.

Rapper and producer Jay-Z along with a slew of artists announced last March that they were co-owners of Tidal. The 45-year-old rap mogul named his fellow investors including his wife Beyonce, Usher, Minaj, Rihanna, Madonna, Kanye West, and Daft Punk.

Tidal has since been dubbed as the first ever artist-owned music streaming app with all artists owning a 3% equal share. However, the artists faced recoil from critics over the company’s subscription fees and the lack of free service, a feature that Tidal’s rival like Spotify is able to offer.

Tidal’s streaming service combines lossless audio and high definition music videos with curated editorial. Tidal claims to pay the highest percentage of royalties to music artists and songwriters as the service is not offering free subscription plans.

Last month, Jay-Z announced that the service has reached one million subscribers but admits that Tidal has struggled to compete with Spotify and Pandora.

Minaj and Beyonce served as headliners for the night and gave fans a show-stopping performance up on stage at the Barclays Center.

The two performed a rendition of “Feeling Myself,” complete with a dance-off sequence with both singers leading their crews. The set also features Nicki rapping her verse from their other collaboration, “Flawless.”

According to CBC News, the Tidal X concert was all about star power collaborations. Later that night, Beyonce joined her husband, rapper Jay-Z, to sing “Holy Grail,” which the 34-year-old singer admits as her favorite track to perform with her beau.

Jay-Z then delighted fans when he teamed up with Rick Ross on stage and performed “F**kwithMeYouKnowIGotIt” and even introduced Lil Wayne on stage for a rendition of their 2007 song “Hello Brooklyn 2.0.”

Other highlights of the show include Usher’s live debut of his latest single “Chains” with Nas and Bibi Bourelly, and Nick Jonas performing his latest release “Levels.”

Rapper T.I., country singer Thomas Rett, French band Indochine, Alessia Cara, Justine Skye, and dancehall star Damian Marley were also present in the concert. During the event, Marley was announced as the latest artist to become part of Tidal’s investors.

Prince, who had been one of the first to be confirmed to be at the event pulled out. Rappers Pusha T and Travis Scott, who were also confirmed to be performing, were also no-shows during the gig.

Meek Mill was also present during the night and was even joined by Ross, French Montana, and DJ Khaled, while performing his set.

The 28-year-old hip-hop artist is currently making news that he and his lady love Minaj are tying the knot anytime this week.

According to Hollywood Life, wedding bells are set to be ringing for the pair before the end of the week. The 32-year-old rapper and her beau just started dating early this year, but it looks like she’s ready to settle down with him for good.

Reports say that the couple eyes to exchange I Do’s in New York City on October 21, just a day after the Tidal concert, but no confirmation has surfaced if the couple did get married.

Hollywood Life reports that one of Minaj’s closest friends reportedly revealed that the singers are planning to tie the knot already.

Details of the ceremony are kept at a minimum, but reports claim that the “Super Bass” hitmaker headed straight at the Waldorf Astoria in the big Apple after the Tidal X concert.

Although it is also worth noting that the lovebirds are very vocal when it comes to their relationship. Nicki even went on to flaunt her massive engagement ring at a red carpet in June, which is why fans are wondering why they want to keep their wedding quiet.

“The Night is Still Young” songstress is also busy promoting her upcoming film “Barbershop 3” slated to be released on April 15, 2016. The film is the sequel to the 2004 film “Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” The rapper is also busy with her ongoing ‘PinkPrint Tour’ in support of her third album “PinkPrint.”

Nicki and Meek have had their fair share of controversies, from consistent breakups to pregnancy rumors. Regardless of the rumors, “The Other Woman” actress describes Mill as the best boyfriend she’s ever had.
