IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Post Malone Smashes Spotify Record With 'Beerbongs & Bentleys' Album

Post Malone's sophomore album beerbongs & bentleys has been out for a single day, and it's already set new records on national and global levels for Spotify.

The streaming service congratulated the rapper on his achievement, noting that the first-day streaming numbers have the "Rockstar" singer securing the top spot in that race thanks to the 78,744,748 times the album was streamed internationally and the 47,930,039 times it played in the U.S.

Numbers have been on Post Malone's side lately: His full-length debut, 2016's Stoney, recently passed its 64th week in the top tier of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Michael Jackson's Thriller is the reigning champion for the longest stretch spent in the top 10 of that chart, and Malone now shares the second-place spot with Whitney Houston, whose debut also maintained a top 10 spot for 64 weeks following its 1985 release.

Fans were moved to tears (and chatty about it on social media) in the hours following the drop of beerbongs & bentleys. Post Malone kicked off the tour in support of the album the night before its debut on April 26, and will lap the country before wrapping the trek in San Francisco on June 24.
