Popcaan Announces New Album Called 'Forever'

Popcaan is ready to make the ladies wine their waistlines and men buss a few blanks this season with the announcement of his new album, Forever. The dancehall star’s sophomore effort is set to arrive sometime this summer via Mixpak, but doesn’t have an official release date as yet.

It will follow Popcaan’s 2014 stellar mainstream debut Where We Come From, which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Reggae Albums chart. Along with the album news, the singjay has also shared “Body So Good,” the lead single from Forever. According to the press release, it “is a leaf out of Forever's book, a glimpse of the craft to come.”

“Body So Good” infuses the lush tropical air of Jamaica and the sweltering summer heat, as Popcaan flirts with his lover on the dancefloor. Describing her as “rude and cute like RiRi,” he praises his girl's shapely body while simultaneously stating that he cannot stand her at times. “Yuh seh me and you ah build we own ting, yet mi find out yuh don’t know what love means," he muses. "But mi still love when yuh wine up yuh feisty self."

It may seem like Popcaan is toying with her emotions at first, but his syrupy vocals laid over a sun-kissed drum and acoustic guitar-based production makes everything seem alright for the moment. And the rugged “Bruk out bruk out, good good body gyal” sample gives the song an authentic edge.

Following the release of Where We Come From, Popcaan has since dropped songs to keep the streets buzzing like “Addicted,” “Bad Yuh Bad,” "Family" and “My Type” that mainly catered to the female perspective. And with his latest musical offering, he still serves to please them.
