Atlantic Records signee PnB Rock was reportedly arrested on Sunday (Jan. 20) in Bensalem, Penn., about 25 minutes outside of his native Philadelphia, on gun and drug charges.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 27-year-old PnB, whose birth name is Rakim Allen, was taken into custody after Bensalem police served a search warrant “on the luxury townhouse on a bank of the Delaware River that he rents.”
Once inside, authorities reportedly found four pounds of marijuana, $33,000 and a stolen glock handgun. The Inquirer relays that PnB officially faces charges of possession of narcotics, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and “related offenses.”
Action News on 6abc -- a Philadelphia news station -- reported an additional possession with intent to deliver charge, which is corroborated by The Inquirer’s reporting of surveillance showing PnB selling marijuana out of the home. Stephanie Sibounheuang, 27, was inside the home at the time and is in custody alongside PnB. Both are being held on $500,000 bail at the time of this writing.
Just last month, the rapper told Drew Lazor of The Inquirer that his 33 months in state prison for drug-related charges as a 19-year-old fueled his musical success: “In the penitentiary, you have music all around you. People are making beats on keywords and rapping in circles all day. I was part of that. I’d go into my cell and write music on my own time.”
Even more recently, two days before his arrest on Jan. 18, PnB excitedly took to Twitter to proclaim 2019 as “our year.”
“For everybody who ever said ‘PNB IS UNDERRATED’ OR ‘PNB DON’T GET ENUFF (sic) RECOGNITION’ …. THIS OUR YEAR I PROMISE WATCH WHEN TSTPS DROP,” he tweeted.
“TSTPS” refers to his upcoming sophomore studio album Trapstar Turnt PopStar, expected Feb. 22.
