Authorities have granted Nicki Minaj's brother a few more days to consider a plea bargain in his child sex abuse case.
Jelani Maraj, who was charged in December with raping a 12-year-old girl multiple times, will have four days to decide if he will take a plea deal after signing an adjournment in a Long Island court Thursday, Miriam Sholder of the Nassau County District Attorney’s office told the Daily News.
Prosecutors offered Maraj a deal of 15 years to life last month.
If Maraj decides not to take the plea deal, he could face life behind bars if he's found guilty.
The alleged victim was “someone he had access to,” a source close to the case previously told the Daily News.
The 37-year-old was arraigned Dec. 3 on a first-degree rape charge and freed from a Nassau County jail on $100,000 bail. He reappeared in public for the first time almost a week later for a preliminary hearing.
Maraj’s younger sister, one of hip hop’s biggest stars, hasn’t commented publicly on the case.
Last August, Minaj paid $30,000 for her brother's wedding in Baldwin.
"I love my brother so much man. Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk," the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram at the time.
Maraj is slated to appear in court on Monday.
