NEW YORK TIMES BLOGGERS UNDER FIRE FOR CRITICIZING CURVIER ACTRESSES!

When did the motto of The New York Times change to "All the news that fits in a Size Zero?"
The paper of record irked various bloggers following the Golden Globes for its provocative comments about women and weight.

That includes the assertion that some superskinny actresses have become — gasp — slightly less stickfigure-ish.

The report by female writer Andy Port appeared online in the NYT's fashion blog The Moment and included photos of Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Courteney Cox, with the probing question asking what the trio had in common.

"Maybe it's just me," wrote Port, "but I could have sworn that some of the ladies who showed up at the Golden Globes on Sunday had put on a little weight.

"It's almost criminal to name names, because the very actresses whose body-mass indexes have been the subject of endless tabloid speculation are the very ones now sporting sexier curves."

Readers of the story expressed annoyance that Port went on to expand on the "sexier curves" notion.

"You could definitely see the difference if you concentrated solely on the upper arms," she wrote.

NYT fashion critic Cathy Horyn also created a hubbub when she weighed in on the Globes with a piece lamenting the absence of a knockout dress at the awards show.

Horyn noted that it certainly wasn't the "exploding ruffle" dress worn by Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan on "Mad Men." But the respected Horyn went on to include a quote that described the actress as "big."

That turned heads at Gothamist.com, which pointed out that the photo showing the actress looking wide was "distorted, possibly to [falsely] illustrate her point."

The New York Times later admitted that the photo of Hendricks had been "slightly distorted inadvertently due to an error during routine processing."

Another online scribe at the paper writing about style caused a commotion with a perfect example of "tweet first, research later."

The blogger took issue with the black cap worn by actor Michael C. Hall, who won a Golden Globe for his work on "Dexter."

"Is Michael C. Hall playing Bob Marley in an upcoming movie?" came the the snarky tweet. "Don't get the hat or what he is hiding under it."

Blogger Perez Hilton was the first to smack back that Hall has been battling cancer.

The Times blogger apologized. Sorry seems to be the hardest tweet.
