Even if you could get tickets to Beyoncé’s Brooklyn concert next summer, it would cost a small fortune.
The upcoming “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour” appeared to have sold every single seat of its Barclays Center date just seconds after tickets went on sale Monday morning.
And within hours after ducats to Beyoncé’s Aug. 3 show became available on Ticketmaster, they turned up on secondary market outlets like StubHub, with asking prices of $2,500 for mediocre seats three-quarters of the way up the arena.
A second show on Aug. 4 was added late Monday and tickets go on sale Friday.
“Seats to Beyoncé’s shows are even more in demand because (she’s) playing arenas rather than stadiums and (with the exception of Brooklyn) she isn’t doing multiple dates in each city on this tour,” said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of the concert industry magazine Pollstar.
That means capacities of 20,000, as opposed to 50,000, as Madonna featured on much of her last tour.
If the limited seats give the tour extra heat, it means more potential frustration for fans vying for tickets — especially since, according to the organization Fan Freedom, many seats aren’t marketed for average listeners.
“Fans should be aware that only a small fraction of tickets for a concert are available at the public on-sale,” said Fan Freedom’s spokesman, Chris Grimm.
“We have seen documents for a number of shows across the country, and many times at least 90% of tickets are allotted to fan club and credit card presales, the artists, promoters, sponsors and other VIPs.”
For this reason, Grimm said his organization believes “fans have the right to know exactly how many tickets were available for the public on-sale so they can make informed decisions about trying to buy tickets.”
The smaller venues means even people with money to burn could go unsatisfied.
“How is this possible?! Two of us click ‘purchase tickets’ at 9am the SECOND they go on sale and they are GONE! WAHHH #CantAGirlSeeBeyonce?!” tweeted Sports Illustrated stunner Brooklyn Decker, who followed with a second, more emotional tweet.
“WHYYYYYY *cue ugly cry* WHYYYY where else can I buy them.. I need 7 together.. stubhubs out.. I checked.”
Others like @jilacey called for “a support group for these #BeyonceTickets,” because she was so sad she couldn’t get one.
