IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

The hip-hop community was rocked August 8th by the sudden passing of rapper Sean Price, who died in his native Brooklyn at the age of 43. At the time of his death, the Boot Camp Clik rapper also known as Ruck was putting the finishing touches on a new mixtape titled Songs in the Key of Price. That mixtape will arrive August 21st through Duck Down Music, and Rolling Stone exclusively presents "Planet Apes," a track off that upcoming collection.

On the PF Cuttin-produced track, Price shows off the dazzling lyrical dexterity and laid back flow that made the Heltah Skeltah rapper so beloved among rap fans and peers. "The flow is great / So don't debate / I'm holding cake / Unload the eight / But hold your faith," Price boasts on a swirling beat that sounds ripped from a spy movie. "Clapper of the 9 / Rap rapper all the time / Can't rewind that rapper / Rapid lines / Fine, I'm that."

Songs in the Key of Price – with its Stevie Wonder-inspired artwork – will be available through the Duck Down shop in a variety of different bundles. Each bundle includes the album on both CD and digital formats, a bottle opener, Price's P! socks and a pair of T-shirts. The first 100 fans to pre-order Songs in the Key of Price will also receive a copy of the mixtape signed by Price.

Following Price's sudden death, a Crowdrise fundraiser was organized by Duck Down in order to raise money to assist the rapper's family moving forward; As of Thursday, over $78,000 had been collected. Additionally, producers Cuttin and Statik Selektah will host a Price memorial concert on August 27th at New York's SOB's. Visit Ticketweb for ticket information for the tribute show.

In an effort to bring attention to Price's Crowdrise, Mac Miller also dropped "Pet Sounds," an unreleased track he recorded with Price, on his SoundCloud Wednesday night. The twisty, jazz-inflicted Nottz production serves as the perfect canvas for Price to deliver a guest feature packed with clever basketball references, from saying he doesn't practice like Allen Iverson to a passing nod to former New York Knick Chris Copeland.
