Mother Chained Mentally Disabled Daughter To Hotel Bed So She Could Party

A mother allegedly chained her mentally disabled daughter to a hotel bed so she could party it up at a wedding in North Carolina.

Tiffany Michelle Davis, 37, of Pasadena, Md., was arrested Saturday night and charged with a felony neglect charge.

The incident came to light when guests at the Courtyard Marriott in the city of Gastonia, N.C., saw the young woman, 19, wandering the building.

“She went to one of the banquet rooms where there was a family reunion," Gastonia police Capt. Mike Lari told the Daily News. "The people did not recognize her so they asked her questions but she is unable to speak so they brought her to hotel management."

Staff went into the young lady's hotel room to find a chain hanging from beneath the mattress. She somehow managed to break free from handcuffs that were attached to the chain.

"The hotel management knew she [Davis] was going to a wedding at a country club so they sent an officer to find her,” Lari said.

She admitted to leaving her daughter behind because she was visiting from out of state did not have any family members in the region to babysit, reported local NBC-affiliate WCNC.

Davis is being held at Gaston County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Adult Protective Services brought the 19 year old, who has the mental capabilities of a young child, to a nearby hospital for an assessment. She is not thought to have any lasting injuries from the confinement.
