It all started last year when Radio personality Ebro Darden and producer Mike WiLL Made-It got into a spat on twitter over Darden's claims that Rae Sremmurd don't write their own raps.
In a year in which hip-hop fans grappled with the place of ghostwriting in the culture (thanks to a controversy over Drake's alleged use of a lyric writer), Ebro casually accused the brothers of not writing their own rhymes, saying, "They didn't write that shit. Any of it. Maybe some of it. Mike WiLL-Made It—you know that his name is Mike WiLL-Made It? He made that album. They're Kriss Kross. It was a fabricated thing that we all liked."
Ebro recently posted this reffering to Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" being #1 in the country because of the mannequin challenge that has been sweeping social media.
Mike Will Made It caught wind of what he said and quickly ethered him. Saying "Don't make me call Jimmy and get you fired."
