The Queen is back and isn’t sugar coating anything in her golden visuals for her lead single, “Thick Of It.”
Off her upcoming seventh studio album Strength of a Woman, Mary is surrounded by golden walls and mirrors as she belts out the powerful song about falling long and hard in love.”This song is so personal it’s almost painful to let it out,” she said in a press release. “I don’t hold back though, it’s not who I am and there’s no way I am going to start changing now. We all deal with love and the emotions that we get tangled up in, and we gotta survive, grow and remain honest to our best selves. I feel that with this song and it’s the first one off this album I’ve been immersing myself in for 2 years now. Music just saves me no matter what in life is happening.”
Mary also brings back her Brook Lynn persona while doing her infamous dance moves. Currently, the singer is on the road with Maxwell on the King + Queen of Hearts World Tour. “Maxwell has been speaking to the hearts of women and men ever since he came out,” she told Rolling Stone last month. “That’s why I’m a fan. He moves me. He’s the king at what he does, I’m the king at what I do. This is no ego, and we’re not being arrogant – this is being sure because we’ve been doing this for so long that we can say we’re the King and Queen of Hearts. It’s easy.”
