A man who barged into a beef between two men in the Bronx and was told to butt out opened fire, killing one of them in front of his friends and family Friday, cops and witnesses said.
Jay Brialey, 46, was arguing with a friend near the back door of an E. 137th St. building in Mott Haven about 7:30 p.m., a relative said.
As another man stepped into the building, he made a comment and Brialey told him to keep walking, said his sister-in-law, Eyanna Jackson, 31.
"He got into the argument," said Jackson, who was standing nearby. "Jay told him to mind his own business."
The man marched upstairs and came back with a pistol aimed at Brialey, who has prior arrests that include public lewdness and trespassing.
"Why the f--- you saying something to me?" the man asked, recalled Jackson.
"He fired three times," she said. "[Brialey] was shot in the back as he was running away."
Jackson said the shooter fled out the back door and disappeared.
She ran to the wounded Brialey, but couldn't save him.
"I tried to revive him," she said. "I held my brother until the ambulance came. He wasn't even conscious."
He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where he died.
The gunman was still at large Friday night.
