MTV is scaring up a revival of the stunt-and-dare game show "Fear Factor."
The network will premiere new episodes of the long-running former NBC series, which required competitors to outlast each other in extreme and bizarre feats like jumping from building to building or eating live insects in order to win the grand prize.
The upcoming MTV version will star rapper-turned-actor Ludacris as host. It is slated to premiere on May 30.
"I am excited to kick off my partnership with MTV, starting with the relaunch of 'Fear Factor' which will be even more insane and ludicrous than what you remember," Ludacris said in a statement. "This will be the first of many great projects together!"
The original "Fear Factor" ran from 2001 to 2006 on NBC and typically featured three male and three female contestants, with each competing to be the last person standing.
The network revived the show in 2011 but aired only eight episodes.
MTV has ordered 12 episodes for the rebranded "Fear Factor," with each set to run for an hour.
"MTV is about celebrating youth culture, and with the reinvented 'Fear Factor,' we are putting the power in our audience's hands to face and overcome their biggest fears," MTV President Chris McCarthy said in a statement.
The original series was hosted by Joe Rogan.
