An NYPD sergeant and three officers were stripped of their guns and badges after they allegedly failed an integrity test and kept a bunch of hats and shirts that the Internal Affairs Bureau left on a Brooklyn street, police sources said.
Instead of bringing the found booty in for inventory, the cops gave them out to people in the neighborhood. Sgt. Isaac Acevedo and Officers Deangelo Jones, Eliseo Morales and Cory Smith from Brooklyn's 75th Precinct were placed on modified duty, sources said.
The Brooklyn district attorney's office has been notified about the internal sting.
Supporters for the officers said all would be cleared, and taking such a "penny-ante misunderstanding" to the courts was a overreaction.
