LL Cool J Coming Out Of Retirement For New Album

Don’t call it a comeback. He hasn't musically been here for years but now he's ready for his 14th album.

Rapper LL Cool J took to Twitter on Monday night in a confusing rant, in which he revealed he’s dropping a new album moments after writing he was retiring from the business.

“Today I’m officially coming out of retirement. And starting a new album,” he tweeted.

“Studio time is set for 8 p.m. I’m gonna massacre the rap game!” he continued.

The rap veteran hasn’t released an album since 2013’s “Authentic” and has long hyped fans up with the possibility of “G.O.A.T. 2.”

But some fans speculated a return to music after his recent collaboration with Dr. Dre, which was well received and even warranted praise from Eminem.

The "I'm Bad" singer noticed the applause, sharing a screen-grab of him in the studio with Dr. Dre that was viewed almost 5 million times.

"Numbers dont lie," he wrote.

The news of an album comes after the 48-year-old went on a Kanye West-esque rant, boggling fans when he earlier announced he was retiring.

“Today I officially retired from music,” he tweeted in a now-deleted post . “Thank you for the love.”

He also at first denied any new musical projects.

“Just kidding yall ... I’m not dropping an album .. lol focused on my current endeavors,” he tweeted moments before his big announcement.

The rapper chalked up the contradictory tweets to harmless fun.

"Oh because I've been doing this a long time I can't have fun with this Twiiter game? Lol," he asked, adding several laughing emojis.

Earlier in the day, he went on another Twitter tirade, doling out advice to fans.

“Change the game. Make them reassess what came before you,” he wrote.

“Use haters like wood in a fire place ... let them heat up your passion,” he continued.

His possible retirement made sense to most fans, who have seen the rapper-turned-actor pay more attention to the small screen than the radio.

He is a constant presence on television, hosting “Lip Sync Battle” and starring on “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

He also hosted the Grammys for the fifth time this year and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame a few weeks ago.

The rapper, born James Todd Smith, was signed to Russell Simmons’ Def Jam label when he was only 16. All 13 of his albums have landed on the Billboard 200.
