Lil Nas X is seemingly unfazed by homophobic comments the 20-year-old rapper received since coming out as a member of the LGBTQ community on World Pride Day.
On Monday, Lil Nas celebrated his single “Old Town Road” becoming the longest-running Hot 100 No. 1 hip-hop single of all time in an Instagram post.
In the comments section, some followers made remarks like “Can you not be gay,” “He’s gay I’m no longer listening to this s—t,” and “How long are you going to be gay for.”
In a facebook post someone said, he took the Old Town Road to Brokeback Mountain.
The rapper made light of the comments, writing, “I apologize for my actions. hope you find a better role model” and “i’m as gay as a joke.”
Lil Nas also laughed at a fan video that claimed because he’s gay, his music “just don’t sound the same.”
On Sunday, the rapper came out to his fans with the release of his new song, “c7osure,” and artwork for his new album, which featured rainbow-colored buildings.
He wrote on Twitter, “deadass thought i made it obvious.”
