Lil Durk Murder-for-Hire Trial Pushed Back To Spring

Lil Durk's murder-for-hire case has been pushed back for a second time, with the rapper's attorneys wanting the trial to begin in May. He appeared in a Los Angeles federal courtroom on Wednesday (January 7), where a judge granted the delay of the trial by at least three months. While a concrete date has not been set, defendants want to push the date from January 20 to May 4. The trial was previously scheduled for October 2025. The Chicago rapper (real name Durk Banks) did not join the request of his attorneys, who asked for additional time to review discovery in trial preparation. Supporting Durk in court was his wife, India Royale, while it was also reported that the rapper was sporting a new buzzcut. "We would have been ready to try the case (in two weeks), but the court appropriately decided that with everybody together, we still aren’t there yet," Drew Findling, one of Durk’s lawyers, told Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon. "It’s a complex case. These are the stepping stones towards a trial." Lil Durk, who was arrested in Florida in October 2024, is said to have spent the last four months in solitary confinement after being found in unauthorized possession of an Apple Watch. Last week, Durk's lawyer, Christy O’ Connor, said his client's access to commissary has been revoked, along with being allotted one phone call monthly"The deleterious effects of extended solitary confinement on an inmate’s psychological well-being are well-documented," O'Connor told reporters. The rapper has been in custody for alleged murder-for-hire in the death of Saviay'a Robinson, who was slain in Atlanta in 2022 after an alleged hit was ordered on her cousin, rapper Quando Rondo.
