IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Days after arriving at the Grammys in an egg, Lady Gaga has just cracked the "greatest honor" of her career.

The 24-year-old singer's new single, "Born This Way" made history Wednesday becoming the 1,000th song to top the Billboard Hot 100 charts in its 52-year history.

"I am so humbled and so honored and overwhelmed by the reception to 'Born This Way,'" she told Billboard.com. "It has been so life changing for me as an artist, and between Billboard and the international number ones and the radio numbers...I couldn't be more blessed to have the fans that I have."

Gaga thanked her fans on Monday for landing her at the top of the charts for the third time ("Just Dance" and "Poker Face" were also number one singles in 2009).

"BORN THIS WAY IS #1 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100!" she tweeted on Monday. "THANK YOU, I'm overwhelmed by your support."

"Born This Way" is the 19th song to debut at no. 1 in the history of the Hot 100.

Gaga first performed the title track from her third album, which drops May 23, at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday after arriving on stage in a "vessel" created by Hussein Chalayan.
