Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly died of a drug overdose, a toxicology screening confirmed on Monday.
An investigator from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the screening found a fatal mixture of drugs in the "Jump" rapper's system, according to TMZ.
Kelly, 34, was found dead May 1 at his Atlanta home. His mother, Donna Kelly Pratte, told authorities that the rapper had a history of drug abuse and had experienced episodes in the past, according to the police report filed at the time.
According to the gossip site, the investigator did not indicate which drugs were found, but Pratte previously told authorities that her son had been doing heroin and cocaine the night before he died.
Police were called to Kelly's home around 4:30 p.m. May 1st, and the rapper was transported to an Atlanta Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5pm.
Kelly was one half of the 90s teen rap sensations Kris Kross, and went by the name "Mac Daddy" along with Chris Smith, who went by "Daddy Mac."
The group catapulted to fame with the help of super producer Jermaine Dupri, becoming a global sensation with their biggest song to date "Jump."
